Laughable Lyrics

Lately, I've been making a concerted effort to exercise more and sit on my bum less which conveniently explains my lack of posting (because it couldn't possibly be that my life is so boring there's been nothing to say:). Anyway, I've started walking around a pond near my house where apparently everyone else and their dogs (literally--watch your step) like to walk as well. While many people I admire use their exercise time to listen to sermons or audio-books, I use my exercise time to connect with American pop culture via cds my younger, much cooler sister has made for me every year since we've moved to Brazil. They are great for exercising! I'm greatly indebted to her, but she'll never know because she's "too busy" to read my blog.

So, this past week I uploaded or synced or "whatever" these cds to my MP3 and listened as I walked around the pond. I'm sure I looked like a real dork because some of the song lyrics really strike me as hilarious in a "what in the world!?!" kind of way. I truly laughed out loud on a couple of occasions, and I'm accustomed to cheesy lyrics--after all I'm a huge musical theater fan. So, I wanted to share two of my favorites. I don't know song titles, artists, years, or even where to find them again on the 20 cds I've accumulated, but here they are, completely out of context which really makes no difference.

Winner #1 "There's an itch that we're gonna scratch. Won't take long for this egg to hatch."

Winner #2 "I wanna steal your attention like a bad outlaw." (Obviously a country song.)

Not sure why, but felt the need to share those fine examples of song-writing with you. And if you, like my husband, are about to say, "They don't write songs like they used to," don't even get me started on the "Retro" mix she made for Nathanael!

Okay, just let me say it BEFORE he does, "They just don't write songs like they used to!" Good grief! Where does Kelley come up with these songs??? -- Love, Mom
