January 6th: Epiphany

Epiphany doesn't get much attention in our evangelical circles. The Wise Men have already come and gone from the crowded stable on Christmas Eve. I wish I knew more about celebrating this special day. I have been asking myself some questions as I meditate on the Magi's journey to the Christ Child: How much do I truly seek Him? How far am I willing to go and how much effort am I willing to give to meet Him? What can I give Him in response to His great gift?

Today, I simply want to share a few pictures of a unique gift we were given this year at Christmas. It is a piece of fabric that has been dyed using the batik method in which parts of the fabric not intended to be dyed are covered with removable wax. Brazilian batiks depicting everyday life and landscapes are beautiful, but this one of the Magi visiting the Holy Child is really stunning. Hope you enjoy!

Oh, the batik is beautiful! What a lovely gift -- and one that you, especially, will treasure! Also, good, thought-provoking questions for reflection. How far am I willing to go to find Him???
Love you, Mom
